The black stork is the emblem of the National Park of the forests of Champagne and Burgundy. More than 20% of this population resides in this territory. It frequents deep forests and wetlands. Since 2011, the black stork has been on the red list of endangered species in France, so it is monitored by the National Forestry Office. Beacons follow them as they migrate to Africa in autumn. Each summer, four to six pairs of black storks establish their nests in the park.
